Lore Olympus: Volume One by Rachel Smythe is a reimagining of the myth of Hades and Persephone. In this beautiful graphic novel, we get a modern retelling of the Greek Gods and myths we all know and love. From Hera with her alpha female aura to Zeus and his playboy way, all of the gods are there are we are totally pulled along for the ride.
I've been a follower of this Webtoon for a while now, so when volume one was published in a physical format, I just had to snatch one up. And boooooy, is it beautiful! It is worth every penny to get the hardcover version of this book. The binding and cover and gorgeous and the illustrations are just beautiful. It is definitely display worthy on ones personal bookshelf.
As for the story, it sucks you right in. Now volume one doesn't go nearly as far as the Webtoon, but volume two will be out soon, or so I hear. The cliffhanger might be a killer for those of you not following the Webtoon, but the story gets even better as you continue.
One of my favorite aspect about this graphic novel is how well the gods are portrayed in a modern way. I just love seeing the way Smythe has reimagined these characters and they fit so freakin' well!
Everyone who reads this Webtoon especially, should go out and buy this book, if not for the story for how just plain awesome the physical copy came out! Five stars.
That's all for now!
