Sometimes, you get an idea stuck in your head and you just have to go with it. That's what happened with this bulletin board. I really wanted to do something with the roots of a tree and the idea "grew" from there.
After creating my tree roots and trunk, I had all of our staff members trace their hands for leaves. Then I left green paper and scissors at the children's desk, hoping that we can get more leaves as the month of April goes on. We are about halfway through the month and our tree of readers is growing!
The tree growing out of the book ended up looking a little wonky and I think I'd probably place my "Growing Readers" letters differently next time. But overall, I am pretty happy with it!
