Baby Storytime: 9/16/19 – Transportation

Baby Storytime: 9/16/19 – Transportation

  1. Hello Rhyme

  2. This is one I got from Jbrary. You teach the ASL signs for “hello, friends, time & say.” Then you all do it together.

Hello friends, Hello friends, It’s time to say hello.

  1. ASL – CAR / PLANE / TRAIN

  1. For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.

  2. Song –  Little Red Caboose by Joanie Bartels

  3. This is a fun one to sing and to bounce to.

  4. Board Book – Vroom, Vroom, Trucks! By Karen Katz

  5. I pass out my board books to promote one-on-one reading. My baby group always loves cars and the sounds they make.

  6. Rhyme – I’m an Airplane

  7. This is a fun one that can be adapted for babies by leaning from side to side.

I’m an airplane (repeat) Flying high (repeat) I can tilt this way (repeat) In the sky (repeat) I’m an airplane (repeat) Flying high (repeat) I can tilt that way (repeat) In the sky (repeat) I’m an airplane (repeat) Flying high (repeat) I can make a landing (repeat) From the sky (repeat) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv76PtdM4BU)

  1. Song – The Wheels on the Bus by Toddlers on Parade

  1. A song everyone knows and has simple movements.

  2. Flannel/Puppet – Flannel Cars

  3. I haven’t decided if we are going to count, identify colors or do a driving rhyme with this one yet.

  4. Finger Play – This Little Train

  5. I love this one because it ends with a boop on the nose and a tickle.

The little train ran up the track (run fingers up arm) Toot, toot, toot (make train noises and tap nose) And then it came toot-tooting back (run fingers down arm) Toot, toot, toot (make train noises and tap nose) Trains!

  1. Rhyme – Helicopter

  2. You can teach the ASL sign for “Helicopter” which makes this one even more fun! I toyed with making this one a lift but didn’t want to get to crazy 🙂

Helicopter goes up Helicopter goes down Helicopter turns, turns all around Helicopter goes left Helicopter goes right Helicopter goes up, up, and out of sight (hands behind back) Away we GO!

  1. Book – Freight Train by Donald Crews

  2. This is one of my favorite train books and we have it as a big book!

  3. Lift – Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

  4. Time to work those muscles!

Zoom, zoom, zoom We’re going to the moon. Zoom, zoom, zoom We’re going to the moon. If you want to take a trip climb aboard my rocket ship. Zoom, zoom, zoom We’re going to the moon. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Blast off!

Bounce – I Bounce You

  1. This one ends in a hug!

I bounce you here, I bounce you there I bounce you, bounce you everywhere. I tickle you here, I tickle you there I tickle you, tickle you everywhere. I hug you here, I hug you there I hug you, hug you everywhere.

  1. Song/Shaker –  Chugga Lugga Choo Choo

  2. I can’t remember who sang this one but it’s a perfect song to shake to as our shakers sound like the train going up the tracks!

  3. Song/Bubbles – Bubble Bath by Joanie Bartels

  4. When we track bubbles with our eyes we are strengthening the eye muscles we later use for reading.

  5. Goodbye Rhyme – ASL Goodbye

  6. We end the same way we started except we learn the sign for goodbye instead of hello.

  7. Song – Clean It Up by Laurie Berkner

  8. Song – Goodbye, So Long, Farewell by K. Guilmartin

How’d it go:

I felt like I was so not with it this morning but got several compliments, so it must have went well! 😛

That’s all for now!
