Baby Storytime: 8/19/19

  1. Hello Rhyme – H.E.L.L.O

  2. This is one I made up myself. We clap out each letter of the word.

Let’s clap and say hello… H.E. L. L. O. H.E. L. L. O. H.E. L. L. O. Let’s all clap and say good morning.

  1. ASL – HURT / HELP / HAPPY

  1. For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.

  2. Song – Hands are for Clapping by Jim Gill

  3. Jim Gill has such great interactive songs.

  4. Board Book – Everybody Has A Body by Behrens & Highfield

  5. We are always working on identifying our body parts and our vocabulary, that I thought this one be a great one for us all to read together. I pass this one out to promote one-on-one reading.

  6. Rhyme – Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes

  7. Figured we would do this classic to reinforce the book we just read.

  8. Song –  If You’re Happy and You Know It by Cedarmont Kids

  9. I haven’t done this one for babies in a while and I know we love our clapping.

  10. Flannel/Puppet – When Cows Wake Up in the Morning

  11. Breaking out my puppets for this one!

When cows get up in the morning, They always say hello. When cows get up in the morning, They always say hello. And what do they say? Mooooooo And that is what they say. (pig, sheep, duck, etc.)

  1. Finger Play – Tommy Thumbs Up

  2. Another one I haven’t done for my babies before and thought we’d give it a go.

Tommy Thumbs Up Tommy thumbs up, Tommy thumbs down Tommy thumbs dancing all over town. Dance them on your shoulders, Dance them on your head, Dance them on your knees, And tuck them into bed.

  1. Rhyme – Itsy Bitsy Spider

  1. We all know and love this one!

The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.

  1. Big Book – I Went Walking by Sue Williams

  2. We are going to do this one in a round! Yay!

  3. Lift – Going Up and Down in an Elevator

  4. I make the grown ups work for this one as they lift baby in the air.

Going up and down in an elevator. Up and down in an elevator. Up and down in an elevator. 1st floor. 2nd floor. 3rd floor. DOWN!

  1. Bounce – This is the way the lady rides

  2. We love how this one goes faster and faster and faster!

This is the way the lady rides, Lady rides, lady rides, This is the way the lady rides. On her way to town.

This is the way the gentleman rides, Gentleman rides, gentleman rides, This is the way the gentleman rides. On his way to town.

This is the way the doctor rides, Doctor rides, doctor rides, This is the way the doctor rides. On his way to town.

This is the way the cowboy rides, Cowboy rides, cowboy rides, This is the way the cowboy rides. On his way to town.

  1. Song/Shaker – Mr. Sun by Raffi

  2. Just a fun song to shake to.

  3. Song/Bubbles –Took a Bath in a Washing Machine by Jim Gill

  4. This is such a fun bubble song. When we track the bubbles with our eyes, we are working the same eye muscles we later use when we start reading.

  5. Goodbye Rhyme – With my Little Hands

  6. I thought I’d mix up by goodbyes and do a different one from my hello. That and clapping goodbye would be a lot of claps!

With my little hands I go clap, clap, clap With my little feet I go tap, tap, tap With my little arms I wave bye, bye, bye With my little legs I kick high, high, high With my little eyes I play peek-a-boo With my little mouth I say “I love you”

  1. Song – Clean It Up by Laurie Berkner

  2. Any good clean up song will do.

  3. Song – Goodbye, So Long, Farewell by K. Guilmartin

  4. I will always put this one on in the background as everyone leaves because I just love it!

How’d it go:

I wasn’t really feeling this one but everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, which is all that matters! It’s going to be so sad when several of my caregivers go back to school for the year.

That’s all for now!
