Hello Rhyme – H.E.L.L.O
This is one I made up myself. We clap out each letter of the word.
Let’s clap and say hello… H.E. L. L. O. H.E. L. L. O. H.E. L. L. O. Let’s clap and say good morning.
ASL – MORE / THANK YOU / PLEASE
For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.
Song – Fingers, Nose and Toes by Cedarmont Kids
This is one I found recently and I just love it. Simple movements and good for body part identification.
Board Book – Little Face Big Face by Bill Cotter
A little opposite learning. I pass out as many of these as I can get my hands on to promote that one-on-one reading.
Rhyme – This is big, big, big
I love this one. It’s so much fun to make the movements and it actually starts to get the kids thinking about opposites.
This is big big big Hold (arms out to side) This is small small small (cup hands together) This is short short short (hold hands with palms facing each other) This is tall tall tall (reach one hand above head) This is fast fast fast (circle fists quickly) This is slow slow slow (circle fists slowly) This is yes yes yes (nod) This is no no no (shake head)
Song –Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes by It’s Toddler Time
This is a slow version of the song and great for the younger guys.
Flannel/Puppet – It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Shaw
I made this flannel a while ago and haven’t used it in a while. Fun shapes and easy words with lots of repetition.
Finger Play – This Little Piggy
I don’t know why I haven’t done this one with the babies before! Everyone knows this one.
This little piggy went to the market. This little piggy stayed home. This little piggy had roast beef. And this little piggy had none. And this little piggy went wee, wee,wee All the way home!
Rhyme – Have you ever seen a sailboat?
I love rocking back and forth with the babies for this one.
Have you ever seen a sail boat, a sailboat, a sailboat. Have you ever seen a sailboat, waving it’s sales. Wave this way and that way, That way and this way. Have you every seen a sailboat, waving it’s sales.
Book – Show Me by Tom Tracy
I thought this was the perfect board book for interacting with babies but we didn’t have enough copies for everyone, so I enlarged the pages and put them into my slideshow as a sort of digital book.
Lift – Tick Tock, Tick Tock
This is a fun lapsit rhyme with a lift at the end as we “cuckoo!”
Tick tock, tick tock, I’m a little cuckoo clock. Tick tock, tick tock, now it’s one o’clock. Cuckoo! (Lift baby into the air) Continue with two and three o’clock.
Bounce – Giddy-Up, Giddy-Up
My crew loves this one the best out of all my bounces/lifts.
Giddy-up, giddy up ride to town (bounce babies on knees) Giddy-up, giddy-up up and down (lift baby up and down) Giddy-up fast (bounce quickly) Giddy up slow (bounce slowly) Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, whoa! (dip baby backwards gently)
Song/Shaker – Locomotion by Dancin’ Magic
This is such a fun song to shake to and the grownups will reminisce.
Song/Bubbles – Bubble Bath by Laurie Berkner
Bubbles are great for working out those little eye muscles by tracking the bubbles. This helps strengthen our eyes for when we learn to read.
Goodbye Rhyme – With my Little Hands
I thought I’d mix up by goodbyes and do a different one from my hello. That and clapping goodbye would be a lot of claps!
With my little hands I go clap, clap, clap With my little feet I go tap, tap, tap With my little arms I wave bye, bye, bye With my little legs I kick high, high, high With my little eyes I play peek-a-boo With my little mouth I say “I love you”

I will always put this one on in the background as everyone leaves because I just love it!
How’d it go:
Phew! Jam packed house again! We really like our lifts and bounces. Fun was had by all!
