Baby Storytime: 3/9/20

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

Hello Rhyme – Welcome Welcome Everyone

A nice slow rhyme to start the day.

Welcome, welcome everyone. Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun. First we’ll clap our hands just so. Then we’ll bend and touch our toes. Welcome, welcome everyone. Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun!

ASL – PENGUIN / MORE / ALL DONE

51ubagzl2bal._sy498_bo1204203200_

For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.

Song – Tap Your Toes and Follow Me by Susan Salidor

This is another one of my favorite baby songs. So simple with a fun tune.

Board Book – Where is Fuzzy Penguin? by Yayo

I actually got this one for my daughter not too long ago and she had fun feeling for the penguin. I pass these out to encourage one-on-one reading.

Rhyme – Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum

This is a finger play. Caregiver can show baby or help them do it. Thumb taps each finger.

Fe fi fo fum. (Touch each finger with thumb-one finger per syllable.) See my fingers. (Hold up four fingers.) See my thumb. (Hold up thumb.) Fe fi fo fum. (Touch each finger with thumb again.)

Song –  Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

I pick a slower version of this song for my babies. It’s a good wiggle break and gives me a voice break too!

Rhyme – Baby’s Fingers

Another easy finger play with a tickle at the end.

These are baby’s fingers (touch fingers) These are baby’s toes (touch toes) This is baby’s belly button (touch stomach) Round and round it goes! (tickle) (Rhymes for Babies)

Book – I Am Small by Emma Dodd

Lift – Up, Up, Up

We love seeing how heavy those babies get with some lifts!

Up, up, up (lift baby up) Down, down, down (bring baby back down) Up, down, up, down (up and down motion) And tickles all around (tickle baby)

Bounce –  I Bounce You…

I love this one because it ends with a hug!

I bounce you here, I bounce you there I bounce you, bounce you everywhere. I tickle you here, I tickle you there I tickle you, tickle you everywhere. I hug you here, I hug you there I hug you, hug you everywhere.

Rhyme/Shakers – I like the noisy wind

I thought I’d do a rhyme with the shakers before we dance with them this time.

I like the noisy wind I like the noisy wind It roars and mutters (loud, then soft) And shakes and shutters (shake eggs) I like the noisy wind (Harris County Public Library)

Song/Shakers –  Mr. Sun by Raffi

Shaker/dance break!

Song/Bubbles – Bubble Bath by Joanie Bartels

Bubbles are great because when we track the bubbles with our eyes, we are actually strengthening the eye muscles we later use when we learn to read.

Goodbye Rhyme – Now It’s Time To Say Goodbye

Now it’s time to say goodbye, Say goodbye, Say goodbye, Now it’s time to say goodbye, I’ll see you all next week.

Song – Clean It Up by Laurie Berkner

Song – Goodbye, So Long, Farewell by K. Guilmartin

How’d it go:

Small group today but we had some good laughs. The fuzzy penguin book was a real hit for the kids.

That’s all for now!
